Mindfulness Side Trip Day 3

May 3, 2012

Day three of my “Month at the Museum”:

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Concrete Bench.  Jan Jander.  Alabama (2012).

This was taken in the Contemporary Galleries on the second floor of the BMA.

This is a recent acquisition and it is not detailed in the Museum’s Guide to the Collection.  So, instead, I chatted with our Curator of Contemporary Art Ron Platt to find out more.  Jan Jander is an Alabama artist who splits his time between here and Chicago.  Not only is it a beautiful piece of art, it is also a very comfortable bench.

Yes, I sat on it – it was made to be sat on after all!

You can check out Jan’s web site here.
